💼 Find a job faster: CV, application and traps to avoid
Updated on 7 Nov 2026
Looking for a job takes method. Here are the tips that really increase your chances of getting a call back.
1. A clear CV of one to two pages
- At the top: your name, the job you want, your phone, email and city;
- Then your experience, most recent first, with concrete results (figures, tasks, tools);
- Your qualifications, languages and skills relevant to the job;
- A well-named PDF file, for example "CV-Firstname-Lastname.pdf".
You don't have to give your age, date of birth, family situation or a photo: in many countries, including France, employers may not reject you for these reasons.
2. Tailor each application
Re-read the ad and highlight the skills it asks for. A few personalised lines are worth more than a long generic letter.
3. Widen your search
- Also look in nearby cities and at related jobs;
- Consider temporary, fixed-term and seasonal contracts, which often lead to a permanent job;
- Use your network: former colleagues, friends, associations.
4. Prepare the interview
Research the company, prepare three concrete examples of achievements and one or two questions to ask. Arrive a few minutes early, or test your connection for a video interview.
5. Spot fake offers
Never pay to apply, for "mandatory training" or for equipment. Be wary of salaries that sound too good, recruiters who only use messaging apps, and requests for ID copies or bank details before any interview.
On GetEasy, every offer posted by a recruiter is checked before publication, and you can apply for free with your candidate profile.
